Welcome to the Academy
Welcome to the center for the Academy. Although the AQSG does not consider a specific genre as its primary genre, it was originally founded as a Star Trek only organization. We have since opened our doors to include all genres. It is because of our heritage that we still employ the term "Academy" and base all Academy operations in the 1st "Glory" Fleet, one of our Star Trek fleets.
But what does this mean for the Academy candidate who does not wish to play in a Star Trek environment?
All new players will begin in the Basic Academy. Here the player will be assigned to Starbase McCoy in the 1st Fleet and instructed to report to his instructor. With the aid of the Instructor, the candidate will complete five (5) blocks of study centered around the basics of posting.
Upon completion of the Basic Academy course, the player will graduate to the next level, the Advanced course. Here the player, if in the Star Trek genre, will be assigned to the USS San Francisco and instructed to report to the captain. If the player is not in a Star Trek field of study, he will continue his study in a Holodeck level of the Starbase where the candidate will be in an environment native to the desired genre. For example, if the candidate wished to enter a Harry Potter universe, the candidate would be directed to Hogwarts.
Upon completion of several blocks designed to familiarize the candidate with the common nuances, terms, and situations of the genre's universe, as well as advanced levels of posting, the candidate will be graduated to the simulation of his or her choice within that genre.
Should he or she later decide that she would like to run a game, they may apply for the COMMAND Academy.
Mission Statement
The AQSG Academy is dedicated to give new and experienced players the tools needed to make the Role Playing Experience a positive and enjoyable one.
The AQSG Academy is a self-paced individual study course for new Role Players. This is one of the only (if not the only) Role Playing Academies of its kind and is designed to provide the new player with the tools needed to participate in one of the many AQSG games.
In order to graduate, the new player must complete both Academy courses, Basic and Advanced.
The Basic Academy course consists of five (5) blocks. All blocks are generic in nature and are designed to familiarize the player with the standard AQSG posting style. The Advanced Academy course is tailored to the player's desired genre such as Star Trek, Harry Potter, Stargate and so on. Each course consists of two (2) to five (5) blocks designed to help the player succeed in the posting world of the AQSG. During the Advanced Academy course, the player will be assigned to a ship or an environment in which they will interact with other cadets and instructors. Graduation from the Academy will depend on how quickly the player grasps the AQSG style and concepts.
For the more experienced players, we have a Command Training Course. This is for players that have been in the games a while and are now undertaking the responsibility of a Command position. This would mean Captain, Executive Officer, or Department Head. This class is designed to give the experienced players a chance to learn the administrative side of Role Playing Games. Here the Command Candidate will learn the skills needed to run and manage a ship effectively.
